ARTIST STATEMENT
My Mission on this earth is to help to Unleash Creativity.
If you give children crayons and paper, do you need to tell them what to do? The answer is no. They just draw and create.
Human beings are immensely creative. You have the power to create. As we move through our daily activities we lose our childhood gut reaction of being “creative”. If you stop when you’re a child, that skill does not get worked out. What ever makes you happy, do it! Cook, make pottery, jewellery, paint, sketch, sing, dance, write poetry, what ever is your form of expression. Express it.
I studied thermodynamics in school. The first law of thermodynamics is no energy is created or destroyed it is just transferred to another state. Your inner child wants to express and create.
Do not just let that energy stagnate!
Listen to your gut, listen to your heart, don’t listen to when people bring you down! This includes our inner saboteur.
Find your muse and unleash your creativity.
Who am I?
My name is Toni (Jonathon Tonietto) and I am a Visionary Art Engineer.
It all started when I graduated from Materials Science and Engineering and Society. During my Engineering Society Capstone Inquiry in 2016: Why has Graffiti in Hamilton Changed my Life? This inquiry started as “Why there is negative stigma around graffiti?” and expanded to one of experiential learning. Through studying graffiti, I ended up starting to understand the nuances of painting. I began to purchase art supplies and to this day I have continued my lifelong learning of art. I have taken it upon myself to study new techniques as well as attend workshops, I have studied with internationally renown artists including Amanda Sage and Chris Dyer.
As Bob Ross once said “we don’t make mistakes, we have happy accidents”
The answer to painting is more painting.
My Process
Each of my pieces is imbued with the intention to unleash an individuals creative spirit. I begin my stylized paintings by creating an underly of geometric lines using the Fibonacci sequence. I then utilize decalcomania, a technique of creating chaos with the paint, I create this chaos by moving my brush following theoretical quantum physics. From this entropy I listen to the painting and build layers. Each layer I add brings more depth. I imbue each painting with love and energy and they are an extension and window into my soul and connection to spirit. Ahoo.
